Creates a circular curved edge ( arc ) given a center point, a radius and the start of the arc and the end point of the arc.
The Draft Arc requires four points to determine it’s construcion:
- Center – The center point of the Arc
- Radius – The radius of the Arc
- Start Angle – Where on the Radius of a circle, the arc begins
- End Angle- Where on the Radius of a circle, the arc ends.
Short Video Demonstrating Usage:
Step-By-Step Visual Selection
Select Draft workbench
Step 1. ) Select Arc Tool from Draft Toolbar
Step 2. ) Click once where you would like to place the center
Step 3. ) Click once to indicate the length of the radius
Step 4. ) click once to indicate the start angle, of the arc. This click does not have to be on the radius it only indicates an angle
Step 5.) Click once to indicate the end angle of the arc. This click does not have to be on the radius it only indicates an angle
Step by Step – Data Entry
In most CAD systems it is possible to add geometries via keyboad entry only FreeCAD is no exception. The following sequence will allow you to create an arc from anywhere in FreeCAD.
Make your current Document Active.
Step 1. ) Press <<Shift>> and <<D>>
Step 2.) Press <<A>> then <<R>>
Step 3.) Enter Center Coordinate X Value
Step 4.) Enter Center Coordinate Y Value
Step 5.) Enter Center Coordinate Z Value
Step 6.) Enter Radius
Step 7.) Enter Start Angle
Step 8.) Enter Aperature
NOTES:
By selecting the Continue option you can add multiple Arcs, without Steps 1 and 2.
